Description/Interesting Notes: An incredible old time example of wurtzite from this classic locality!!! These old time Joplin wurtzites were originally collected well over 100 years ago!!! This specimen is comprised almost entirely of pure wurtzite!!! It looks as though there were a few successive generations of wurtzite with the earlier generations having large crystals that appear somewhat rounded and the latest generation having scattered crystals that are smaller but relatively sharp!!! This specimen is WAY better than the pictures show - with significant crystals present from nearly every angle!!! This is a killer old time Joplin wurtzite!!! These specimens are extremely rare today!!! This specimen retains a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well as its affixed catalogue number!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
