Wolframite pseudomorph after Scheelite

Long Hill, Trumbull, Fairfield Co., Connecticut

4.35cm x 3.1cm x 2.4cm

Ex. Hauck Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of wolframite after scheelite from Connecticut!!! These specimens date back well over 100 years and are quite scarce today!!! Usually, these specimens are seen as complete pseudomorphs with no scheelite remaining - however this is a very unusual example that still retains a significant amount of unaltered, sharply crystalline colorless scheelite!!! I have NEVER seen one of these old time pseudomorphs that is only a partial pseudomorph!!! Of course the scheelite shows intense blue fluorescence under SW UV as well!!! This specimen comes from the personal collection of Dick Hauck and retains its original label as well!!! Rare and unusual old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 6th!!!
