Description/Interesting Notes:A rare, old time example of radial willemite from Zambia!!! This specimen consists of a large cluster of intergrown radial clusters of tan and colorless willemite crystals in association with calcite!!! This material is exceedingly scarce!!! There are vugs where the colorless willemite crystals are freestanding and one can also see them penetrate into the cavities that are filled with calcite!!! The dramatic patterns make this specimen quite attractive in person - the pics simply don't capture how dramatic they are in person - it looks almost like an exotic woodgrain!!! As if that weren't enough, this specimen fluoresces a BRIGHT green under shortwave UV - and also continues to glow in the dark for some time afterwards!!! The pictures I took under UV were not even in complete darkness - and that's how bright it shows up!!! It is INCREDIBLE in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen retains its original labels from the Sunshine Acres School (a very "unique" fully accredited private school - circa 1939, it was part of the nation's first Nudist colony), and the Wintringham Collection!!!
