Willemite with Franklinite & Calcite

Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey

8.65cm x 5.5cm x 3cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of crystalline willemite from Franklin!!! This specimen hosts a broad face covered with pale yellow prismatic crystals of willemite on a matrix of franklinite and calcite!!! The willemite crystals are present as divergent sprays of elongated prismatic crystals!!! The crystals have sharply defined faces with glassy luster and marked translucence!!! The crystalline willemite shows extremely intense green fluorescence under SW UV!!! In addition it shows incredible phosphorescence as well (meaning it continues to glow after UV exposure)!!! This specimen retains old labels dating it to 8/28/1965 as well!!! The crystals are much more well defined and significant than the pics show!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 9th!!!
