Vivianite

Clay Beds near Co. Limerick, Ireland

8.3cm x 6.7cm x 4.12cm

Ex. Michigan College of Mines No. 12339,
Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum No. DM-20976

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, old time example of vivianite from this seldom referenced locality!!! This specimen consists of a curiously formed matrix that hosts a significant showing of blue vivianite!!! The massive blue vivianite is present as significant masses, crusts, and grains distributed across the specimen!!! The underlying matrix is quite rigid and hard, appearing to a quartz pseudomorph or altered fossil of some kind!!! Specimens of ANY kind are rather uncommon from this locality - this curious historic specimen is actually quite showy as well!!! This specimen retains several old labels including an old unattributed label, two old labels from the Michigan College of Mines, and a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!! This pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 9th!!!
