Description/Interesting Notes: A unique, old time example of chalcocite and uraninite after petrified wood from this unique locale!!! This specimen consists of a solid, hefty mass of petrified wood that has been completely replaced by chalcocite and a small amount of uraninite!!! The old label notes this specimen as uraninite, however after careful inspection and research it has been determined that this specimen is comprised mostly of chalcocite with small amounts of associated uraninite!!! Regardless, this is an incredible specimen and is quite impressive upon close inspection!!! The specimen has a surprising heft to it and shows a slightly iridescent metallic luster on the ends!!! This specimen retains an old Carlton M. Davis collection label and corresponding affixed label as well as additional old dealer labels as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
