Uraninite with Copper

San Juan Co., Utah

10.3cm x 5.08cm x 1.9cm

Ex. Ron Januzzi Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic, old time example of uraninite from Utah!!! This specimen retains an old label that notes that a crude analysis shows this specimen to be 45% uranium and 40% copper!!! The uranium is mostly present as uraninite while the copper is likely present as sulfides (although there may be some microcrystalline native copper present as well)!!! The specimen consists of a thick, black vein that is capped by a lighter colored matrix on both sides!!! Upon close inspection with a scope it is quite clear that there is a lot going on here and it may be interesting to do some further analytical work!!! It is a fantastic uraninite specimen in and of itself however!!! The specimen is quite rich (and heavy) as you can see!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 28th!!!
