Uraninite with Phlogopite, Diopside, Apatite

Cardiff Township, Haliburton Co., Ontario, Canada

9cm x 4.7cm x 3.55cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

An incredible, old time example of uraninite from Canada!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of gemmy, well formed crystals of phlogopite in combination with large, complexly modified crystals of diopside that serves as a matrix for numerous cubic crystals of uraninite and a lone crystal of apatite!!! The uraninite crystals are present as sharp black cubes scattered throughout the specimen that range in size to well over 4mm!!! The diopside crystals have marked luster and translucence with complexly modified habits!!! The phlogopite crystals are sharp, lustrous, and gemmy - they are quite striking upon close inspection!!! Simply a magnificent specimen all around!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 21st!!!
