Torbernite

Chalk Mountain Mine, Spruce Pine, Mitchell Co., North Carolina

5.23cm x 3.75cm x 1.5cm

(mined in 1971)

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of torbernite from North Carolina!!! This specimen hosts several razor sharp crystals of lively green torbernite on a smartly contrasting stark white matrix!!! The crystals are surprsingly thick and well formed - their three dimensional nature doesn't quite come across in the pictures, but they are unusually substantial for the locality!!! The reverse also hosts several, more characteristic crystals that are compressed and somewhat pearly in luster!!! This specimen is quite handsome in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! **We have just returned from the annual Gem & Mineral Show in Tucson, Arizona!!! Be sure to stay tuned as we will be listing our exciting acquisitions throughout the next coming weeks!!!***
