Thomsonite-(Ca)

Strathclyde (Dunbartonshire), Scotland

8.8cm x 5.36cm x 3.1cm

Ex. William Theodore Roepper

Ex. Lehigh University, Dept. of Geology

Ex. Robert G. Mercer Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of thomsonite from the type locality in Scotland!!! This specimen exhibits the characteristic appearance of specimens from this old locality!!! This specimen consists of a large, significant group of prismatic crystals paired set atop a dense network of smaller, juxtaposed crystals!!! The crystals have marked translucence and luster!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see tiny crystals of other unidentified species perched among the smaller crystals!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Lehigh University Department of Geology with W.T. Roepper notation!!! Simply a fantastic type locality thomsonite with terrific provenance!!! Old material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
