Argentian (Silver Rich) Tetrahedrite

Animas Mine, Colquipocro, Peru

6.56cm x 4cm x 4cm

Ex. George A. Koenig Collection (1844-1913)

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-3490

Description/Interesting Notes:

An old time example of silver-rich tetrahedrite from this seldom referenced locale!!! This specimen consists of a solid mass of black argentian tetrahedrite!!! This specimen retains an old affixed label as well as detailed analytical information dating to the 19th century (note its rich silver content!)!!! The label also appears to detail the mine level among other additional info ("Bryson Property"? etc.)!!! This specimen is from the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains an old museum label along with Koenig Collection notation!!! The specimen also retains an affixed label and Koenig's original assay/analysis notes!!! Old 19th century material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
