Stolzite

Darwin, Darwin District, Inyo Co., California

1.54cm x 1.46cm x .96cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A superb example of stolzite from California!!! These specimens were initially thought to be scheelite crystals and were identified as such for decades!!! Although they were found in the late 1950's and it wasn't until relatively recently that they were determined to be some of the worlds finest stolzites!!! Today these specimens are scarce and seldom seen on the market!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of sharp, undamaged octahedrons of stolzite!!! For its size, this is one of the most handsome examples of stolzite from this occurence that I have seen!!! Also, upon close examination, there are also some small, unidentified colorless crystals and an unidentified yellowish mineral in association as well!!! Simply a magnificent example of this rare species from California!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
