Stephanite with Argentopyrite & Native Silver Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany 6.3cm x 5.55cm x 3.3cm Ex. Ernie Schlichter

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of stephanite with rare argentopyrite from this historic German locale!!! This specimen consists of a matrix entirely comprised by intergrown crystals of argentopyrite that hosts a rich showing of highly complex groups of dark gray metallic stephanite crystals!!! In addition there are several tiny native silver wires scattered about, intergrown with the stephanite and argentopyrite!!! There is also a gemmy, golden crystal of baryte tucked in a small vug as well!!! The stephanite crystals are way better than the pics show - in person upon close inspection one can see that they are completely crystalline with highly complex and unusual, curvaceous features!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see that the matrix is entirely comprised of complexly formed, brassy crystals of argentopyrite!!! There is a LOT going on with this specimen and it is loaded with crytals on all sides!!! This is a fantastic old time German stephanite paired with an impressive showing of rare argentopyrite - WAY better than the pics show!!! Quite handsome in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
