Calcite Stalactites

Erzberg Mine, Eisenerz, Styria, Austria

from 4.5cm to 10cm

4 specimens

collected in 1898

Description/Interesting Notes:

A unique, historic set of calcite stalactite specimens from Austria!!! This is a group of four individual stalactite specimens collected from a 1000 year old tunnel once used by the Romans!!! The specimens retain old labels and catalogue numbers as well!!! The stalactites are actually crystalline calcite and they have numerous complex and curious crystalline features upon close examination!!! The two smaller stalactites are actually "tubes" or "straws" that are hollow in the middle!!! Of the two larger stalactites, the white one is actually repaired but it is difficult to discern - the specimens are quite handsome in person!!! The pics hardly do this unique collection justice!!! A rare historic grouping indeed!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 1st!!!
