Description/Interesting Notes: A most unusual and striking example of blue spinel from Sri Lanka!!! This specimen consists of a complexly modified crystal of lively blue cobalt spinel in addition to several smaller crystals in association!!! The crystal exhibits characteristic octahedral form with sharply modified edges!!! The crystal has bright, glassy luster and gemmy clarity!!! This is a true cobalt spinel and came to us through a GIA gemmologist friend who routinely has unusual and rare gem crystals!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
