Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely EXTRAORDINARY example of greenockite from Pennsylvania!!! Not only is this an AMAZING greenockite specimen, it is also a very impressive example of sphalerite for the locality as well!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of large, complex, gemmy yellowish sphalerite crystals that host an exceptional showing of greenockite consisting of eye-visible reddish orange crystals and bright yellow crusts!!! The sphalerite crystals are on a matrix of quartz crystals with some scattered crystals of galena in association as well!!! Areas of the specimen show significant overgrowth of reddish-orange greenockite crystals and, upon close inpsection with a loupe or a scope one can see well formed, individual crystals as well!!! The sphalerite crystals show significant areas of gem clarity with rich yellowish color!!! The sphalerite crystals have taken on a unique hue due in part to the greenockite association as well!!! This is a VERY significant specimen for the locality - and a very fine example of the species as well!!! This specimen is simply incredible in person!!!
