Sphaerosiderite

Queens-Midtown Tunnel, New York City, New York

5.8cm x 2.07cm x 1cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of sphaerosiderite from New York City!!! This specimen hosts numerous disc-like crystals of sphaerosiderite on matrix!!! This specimen is from the well-known Midtown tunnel and dates to its construction in the late 1930's!!! The sphaerosiderite crystals are well formed and complete!!! Their form and color almost makes them resemble tiny snails upon close inspection!!! Specimens from New York City are quite scarce and difficult to obtain!!! This specimen is part of a suite of New York City specimens that we will be releasing throughout the upcoming weeks!!! This specimen retains an old Burminco label and an old, unattributed handwritten label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 2nd!!!
