Smithsonite

Plombieres-Vieille Montagne (Plombieres-Altenberg) District, Verviers, Liege Province, Belgium

7.3cm x 5.66cm x 4.06cm

Ex. L. L. Hubbard Collection (1849-1933)

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-10580

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of smithsonite from this historic locale!!! These specimens date to prior to 1884 when this mine was abandoned!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of botryoidal smithsonite crytals on a limonitic matrix!!! The crystals exhibit ball-like habits and have bright, sparkly luster!!! This specimen retains an old label from the A.E. Seaman Museum with L. L. Hubbard (1849-1933) Collection notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
