Native Silver on Quartz with Stephanite, Polybasite, Miargyrite, & Unknowns

San Genaro Mine, Castrovirreyna District, Castrovirreyna Province, Huancavelica Department, Peru

3.8cm x 2.62cm x 2.4cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of native silver and rare sulphides from Peru!!! This specimen consists of a quartz and calcite matrix that hosts a showy grouping of brilliant crystals of native silver in association with numerous complex, darkly colored crystals of stephanite and miargyrite with polybasite and some possible unknowns (baumstarkite?, diaphorite?)!!! This specimen is quite handsome in person and upon close examination the rare sulphides are very exciting indeed!!! There are also some very peculiar fibrous-like crystals in association on the matrix as well!!! There is a lot more going on with this specimen than the pics show!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 5th!!!
