Native Silver

Smuggler Mine, Aspen District, Pitkin Co., Colorado,

2.62cm x 2.05cm x 1.72cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic, old time example of native silver from this historic locale!!! This specimen consists of a dense mass of complexly intergrown wires of native silver!!! Upon close inspection, one can see that much of the specimen is actually a stout segment of a thick native silver wire that hosts numerous smaller wires parting from it and tangles of fine, thread-like wires occupying the recesses and cavities!!! The native silver has a handsome "antique" patina and there are some small areas of what appears to be some acanthite in association as well!!! This is OLD material that likely dates back a century or more!!! Specimen retains an old unattributed label as well!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 14th!!!
