Meionite

Pitwak Mine, Kokcha Valley, Badakshan, Afghanistan

4.5" x 3.5" x 1.6"

11.4cm x 8.9cm x 4cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

An absolutely superb example of meionite from the Pitwak Mine!!! These specimens came out of a very small, chance find several years ago and haven't been seen since!!! This specimen consists of a sharp cluster of meionite crystals that may, have some partial pseudomorphism as well!!! The crystals have curious, lustrous striations on their surfaces!!! With shortwave UV one can see bright orange highlights and a "glow" coming from within the crystals!!! With backlighting one can see that these crystals actually have some degree of translucence!!! This is truly a spectacular specimen!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 17th!!!
