A fantastic cluster of topaz crystals from this little known Australlian locale with perhaps one of the more humorous names I have heard, The Hairy Peruvian Mine! This specimen consists of numerous gemmy topaz crystals in a somewhat soft limonitic matrix. The most prominently exposed crystal is bright and gemmy with glassy luster. There are some large chunks of somewhat massive topaz visible in the specimen but there are loads of small gemmy crystals partially exposed all over the specimen. Since they are so gemmy and almost entirely embedded in the matrix they were difficult to capture in the pics. I originally considered trimming the specimen up into serveral smaller ones with lots of smaller gemmy crystals well exposed, however I have not yet had the time. Certainly a handsome specimen as is.
