A wildly aesthetic smithsonite from Broken Hill! This gorgeous gem consists of a plate of numerous, highly lustrous, striated balls of colorless smithsonite, with a minor amount of black matrix attached. This beautiful plate of smithsonite crystals consists of numerous balls smushed together, rather than a singular botryoidal plate. Becuase of this, the crystals all absorb and reflect light differently, resulting in a spectacular display of alternating glowing balls of smithsonite, as one views the specimen from different angles! It is difficult to convey this amazing characteristic in text and pictures, however it is simply awesome in person! There is also a curious single crytal perched on one of the smithsonite crystals. This unidentified butterscotch colored crystal is a sharp rectangular prism, with slightly modified edges. I am currently in the process of researching this unidentified crystal, and will post any findings (feel free to add your two cents if you wish!). This specimen is absolutely pristine with no damage whatsoever - in all respects, a killer!
