Corundum var. Ruby

Jegdalek Ruby Mine, Sorobi District, Kabol Province (Kabul Province), Afghanistan

4.22cm x 4.46cm x 2.8cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A striking example of this gem species from Afghanistan!!! This specimen consists of a complex crystal of intensely colored ruby proudly perched on a calcite matrix in association with minor pyrite!!! The ruby crystal is complete and has a highly complex and varied habit!!! The crystal has marked luster and significant - and very lively - translucence as well!!! The color is absolutely outstanding - a richly saturated and intenese ruby red with some purplish magenta tones!!! The translucent clarity is significant and makes the specimen almost glow from within!!! Simply a fantastic example of this famed gem species!!! The pics say it all!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED THIS WEEK, ALL ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 30th!!!
