Description/Interesting Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This is a special "Holiday Listing" and will be ending on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22nd A very rare locality example of ruby from Switzerland!!! This specimen was recently acquired in an old collection and consists of a complex single ruby crystal!!! The crystal has a deep red color with rich purple tones!!! The crystal actually shows a core of more purplish color and an outer zone of more reddish color!!! The crystal has numerous curious and characteristic features!!! The bottom area that appears incomplete actually shows some crystalline features upon close inspection!!! These old time Swiss rubies are very scarce indeed, and this is a fantastic example indeed!!! These rare classic Swiss rubies and sapphires were mentioned in the 1896 publication of "Gems and Precious Stones (Descriptions of their distictive properties & methods for determining them, etc)" by Henry G.
