Corundum var. Ruby

Cascade Canyon, San Gabriel Mts, Los Angeles Co., California

5cm x 2.5cm x 1.56cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

An amazing example of ruby corundum from this seldom referenced California locale!!! We recently acquired a small group of specimens from this location that represent the BEST specimens yet recovered from a single, isolated find!!! Of those specimens, this one is singularly unique - consisting of a cluster of disc-shaped crystals, fanned out in a most aesthetic manner!!!! There were just a couple specimens that exhibited this unusual habit, and this is by far the best example!!! The crystals have a purplish red color with good luster and marked translucence!!! The crystals have sharp edges and exhibit some complex striations on their surfaces!!! Simply an amazing example of California ruby!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 3RD!!!
