Description/Interesting Notes: This specimen consists of an incredible example of synthetic ruby!!! It is quite rare for us to sell any lab grown specimens, but in rare circumstances - when we come across something truly unique or mineralogically significant, we will make an exception!!! This is clearly one of those exceptions and apparently Herb Obodda once felt the same way!!! Often times synthetic crystals are created under special circumstances for research or other academic purposes with no commercial intent!!! Specimens might be created at an enormous cost or under great difficulty with any material left over being very scarce and likely never to be produced again!!! This specimen consists of a highly unusual pseudocubic ruby crystal (although it looks cubic, the angles are slightly askew) that exhibits gorgeous hoppered faces!!! The crystal has glassy luster and marked clarity that ranges from translucent to gemmy!!! This material was apparently created in a lab in the Czech Republic quite some time ago!!! This specimen retains a label from Herb Obodda as well!!! Simply incredible material!!! unusual specimens were created The pics hardly do it justice!!!
