Roeblingite with Pennantite (Grovesite), Xonotlite, Epidote-Pb, and Andradite Parker shaft, Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey 1.73cm x 1.26cm x 1cm Ex. Tony Nikischer Collection

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of this rare and sought after species from Franklin!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of roeblingite as well as a small amount of the very rare species pennantite in association with the classic Parker Shaft assemblage consisting of xonotlite, epidote-pb, and andradite!!! The roeblingite is present as translucent, whitish material that has a characteristic "coconut flesh" appearance!!! There is much more roeblingite present than it appears in the pics, however it is readily apparent in person and dramatically apparent under SW UV since it fluoresces an intense orange-red!!! The pennantite is present as small, dark brownish micaceous plates in close association with the large mass of roeblingite!!! This specimen was in the collection as an example of Pennantite (formerly known as grovesite) with the roeblingite not even being mentioned!!! The xonotlite is present as compact, somewhat fibrous tufts that are bright white and fluoresce blue under SW UV!!! The reddish matrix material is epidote-Pb and the brownish amber material is andradite!!! Rare old time material!!! Please be aware that this specimen was not photographed under optimal UV conditions and is MUCH more fluorescent in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!!
