Rhodochrosite pseudomorph after fossilized Mussel Kerch peninsula (Kertch peninsula), Crimea peninsula, Crimea Oblast', Ukraine 2.35cm x 1.34cm x .84cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A rare example rhodochrosite that has replaced a fossilized mussel!!! This specimen consists of a sharply defined, complete fossilized mussel that has been completely replaced by rhodochrosite!!! The rhodochrosite has a somewhat pinkish-tan flesh coloration and it is also quite lustrous and highly translucent!!! The specimen is very sharply defined with all the major fossil features prominently pronounced!!! This is an unusually fine rhodochrosite fossil replacement indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
