Rhodochrosite with Smoky Quartz

Bennett Quarry, Buckfield, Oxford Co., Maine

4.3cm x 2.35cm x 2.1cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of rhodochrosite with smoky quartz from Maine!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts a striking showing of rhodochrosite crystals in association with numerous sharp, dark black smoky quartz crystals!!! The rhodochrosite crystals are particularly sharp, lustrous, and gemmy for this locality!!! The crystals are highly complex and range in size up to 5mm!!! This is a killer example of rhodochrosite for the locality!!! The smoky quartz crystals actually shine through when the matrix is backlit!!! There are also numerous tiny millimeter-sized botryoids of hydroxylherderite in association as well!!! Rhodochrosite specimens of such quality from Maine are extremely rare - don't miss out!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 18TH!!!
