Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent single crystal of rhodochrosite from this classic locality!!! Let me start off by saying that this is NOT a damaged crystal but, rather a
highly complex floater with lustrous, etched faces and a core of GEM quality rhodochrosite!!! In person, one can see that the faces are
comprised of glassy, highly complex networks of tiny, complex faces!!! The outer surfaces' complex features partially obscure the
fact that the great majority of this crystal is gem clear, cherry red rhodochrosite!!! The bottom side of the crystal also has a
network of complex faces with scattered whitish crusts (actually fine patches of microcrystalline rhodochrosite under intense magnification) and
one can easily see the gemmy material within between the spaces in these crusts!!! This specimen is way better than the pictures show!!!
Classic, old time material!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
