Rhodochrosite

Emma Mine, Butte, Butte District, Silver Bow Co., Montana

10.8cm x 7.2cm x 2.64cm

Ex. Manley Collection

Ex. Duke University #M2968

Ex. Robert E. Jenkins II Collection No. 8445

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic example of rhodochrosite from the Emma Mine in Butte!!! This specimen consists of a plate of intergrown rhodochrosite crystals and massive rhodochrosite that hosts a crystal-lined vug with a sharp, lustrous, translucent rhodochrosite crystal proudly perched in the center!!! The crystal is particularly fine for the locality and is way better than the pics show!!! This specimen retains several old labels and catalogue numbers!!! This specimen retains a label from the personal collection of Butte scholar and collector Bob Jenkins as well as a Carter Rich label with Manley Collection and Duke University Collection notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 19th!!!
