Pyrite with Quartz

Concepcion del Oro, Mun. de Concepcion del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico

8cm x 7.05cm x 5.2cm

Ex. Kohnowich Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A gorgeous example of pyrite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a showy cluster of sharp, cubic pyrite crystals in association with a pair of crossed quartz crystals!!! The pyrite crystals have razor-sharp cubic form with sharply striated faces and brilliant golden metallic luster!!! There are pyrite crystals present on both sides of the specimen and the specimen is quite dynamic and showy in person!!! When I first saw this specimen I initially dismissed it as a Peruvian pyrite, however this collection was heavy in Mexican material and I was surprised to learn that this Mexican locality produced many fine pyrite specimens - they are just rarely seen today!!! Simply gorgeous in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 29th!!!
