Pseudomalachite with Malachite Miguel Vacas Mine, Pardais, Vila Viçosa, Évora District, Portugal 8cm x 6.85cm x 4.06cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A magnificent example of pseudomalachite from Portugal!!! This specimen hosts a broad face of intensely colored pseudomalachite!!! The pseudomalachite exhibits an attractive botryoidal habit with intense blue green color and marked luster!!! When viewed from the reverse one can see that there are several areas of massive malachite present including a thin layer underneath the pseudomalachite!!! The distinct color difference between these two species can clearly be seen - with the pseudomalachite having a definite bluish hue and the malachite being a characteristic green!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can also see some tiny crystals of malachite present as well!!! There is also an interesting area on the reverse where one can see an area with half malachite and half pseudomalachite divided diagonally - again showing the distinct difference in color (and texture)!!! Simply a gorgeous example of this rare phosphate - in association with the species it is often mistaken for!!! Old material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
