Pyrargyrite with Polybasite and Argentiferous Galena Caribou District, Boulder Co., Colorado, 5.55cm x 3.8cm x 2.26cm Ex. John Albanese

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of pyrargyrite from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts complex crystals and masses of deep red pyrargyrite in association with massive polybasite and argentiferous galena!!! The pyrargyrite crystals have rich red color and glassy luster!!! In addition to the crystalline pyrargyrite, there is some material on the underside that consists of reddish gray massive, clay like pyrargyrite!!! The polybasite is largely massive and has been confirmed via microprobe (as noted on an old Forest Cureton label accompanying the specimen)!!! There are vugs containing lattice-works of silver-rich galena as well!!! Classic, old time material!!! This specimen retains an old label from John Albanese and an old Forest Cureton label as well!!!
