Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely exceptional example of acanthite and chalcopyrite after polybasite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of what was once a
very large, and thick, polybasite crystal that has been completely replaced by a framework of brilliant golden chalcopyrite and complex networks of acanthite
crystals!!! From the front, one can see the broad hexagonal outline of the original polybasite crystal and from the side you can see that the pseudomorph is
a partially skeletal replacement - it is a fascinating, and very showy, specimen indeed!!! The acanthite crystals are well formed and the
chalcopyrite crystals are sharp, brilliant, and significant for the locality!!! This is an amazing specimen in person - the pics don't
even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
