Philipsburgite and Quartz Black Pine Mine, Flint Creek Valley, Philipsburg District, Granite Co., Montana 5.3cm x 2.35cm x 2.3cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of phillipsburgite on quartz from this famed locality!!! This specimen consists of a single quartz crystal that serves as a matrix for a colorful showing of intense green phillipsburgite crystals!!! The phillipsburgite is present as lustrous, translucent balls of crystals to .5mm!!! There is also a dense distribution of smaller, spherical crystals that are smooth, translucent, and much more bluish green in color!!! These smaller spheroids may be another species, or simply another generation of philipsburgite crystals!!! Under close examination one can find another species in association as well, likely mimetite or pyromorphite!!! In any case, this specimen is quite colorful and handsome in person!!!
