Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely incredible example of Paraiba tourmaline from the classic locality in Paraiba!!! Let me start off by saying that there sometimes seems to be some confusion as to what "Paraiba tourmaline" is - I want to make it absolutely clear that this IS THE REAL Paraiba tourmaline!!! This specimen was acquired back in the 1980's and is nothing short of incredible!!! The color is absolutely off the charts!!! There is simply nothing else that even compares to true Paraiba tourmaline!!! This specimen conists of several crystals joined together by a small amount of smartly contrasting white quartz matrix!!! Specimens of Paraiba tourmaline of such quality are extremely scarce because almost all the material is immediately snatched up by the lapidary trade!!! These crystals have significant clarity and the color is CHOICE!!! This specimen's original price tag was just into the four digits!!! While the term "Paraiba" gets thrown around rather loosely, I can assure you that specimens such as this are unbelievably rare on the market and I have seen only a scant handful of true Paraiba tourmaline specimens of such quality over the years!!!
