Opalized Wood (Precious Opal)

Virgin Valley District, Humboldt Co., Nevada

3.56cm x 1.84cm x 1.81cm

Ex. Percy A. Foster Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic, old time example of precious opalized wood from the famed Virgin Valley!!! This specimen consists of a thick portion of opalized wood that exhibits a most incredible iridescent fire within!!! This specimen has a smooth, cream colored core paired with a thick area of darkly colored opal that is LOADED with electric, rainbow colored fire throughout!!! The fire seen in this opal is truly exceptional, the fire and overall depth of color are WAY better than the pics show!!! The fire is much more pronounced and dynamic in person!!! This specimen is from the collection of Percy A. Foster (b. 1889)!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 7th!!!
