Montroydite with Edgarbaileyite, Native Mercury, & Cinnabar

Clear Creek Mine, Picacho Peak, New Idria District, Diablo Range, San Benito Co., California

4.3cm x 3.7cm x 2.1cm

Ex. University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum #D5635

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of this rare species from California!!! This specimen hosts a significant showing of dark reddish-orange montrodite crystals in association with greenish edgarbaileyite and native mercury and cinnabar!!! Upon close inspection, one can see areas of submillimeter montroydite crystals scattered throughout a network of shallow vugs in close association with subhedral crystals and botryoids of olive greenish edgarbaileyite and silvery native mercury!!! There are areas of crimson red cinnabar scattered about the matrix as well!!! This specimen retains a label from the University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 22nd!!!
