Monazite

Amelia (Amelia Court House), Amelia Co., Virginia

2.8cm x 2cm x 1.2cm

Ex. Otto Runge Collection (1881-1944) No. 586

Description/Interesting Notes:

An absolutely magnificent example of monazite from this historic Virginia locale!!! This specimen consists of a single, highly complex crystal of monazite!!! The crystal has a deep amber brown color with glassy luster and areas of marked translucence!!! The crystal is in fantastic condition all around and is loaded with sharp, highly complex faces!!! This specimen is WAY better than the pics show!!! This is a very impressive monazite from ANY locality, let alone Virginia!!! This specimen is from the collection of Otto Runge (1881-1944) and retains its original old label and affixed catalogue number as well!!! Rare old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 23rd!!!
