Molybdenite

Kingsgate, Gough Co., New South Wales, Australia

4.73cm x 3.87cm x 1.63cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of molybdenite from Australia!!! This specimen consists of a group of large, hexagonal molybdenite crystals in association with a small amount of quartz and some small, intergrown crystals of native bismuth!!! The hexagonal crystals range in size to over 3.4cm and have brilliant silvery metallic luster!!! The crystals have sharply defined features with complex, faint striations on their faces!!! Upon close inspection one can see a couple complex crystals of native bismuth visible between the quartz matrix and partially intergrown into the molybdenite!!! This specimen displays fantastically in person!!! Classic material!!! Way better than the pics show!!! OLD material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 11th!!!
