Miargyrite pseudomorph after Pyrargyrite with Pyrargyrite

San Genaro Mine, Castrovirreyna District, Castrovirreyna Province, Huancavelica Department, Peru

2.24cm x 1.83cm x 1.32cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of this rare silver-bearing species from Peru!!! This specimen consists of a pair of divergent pyrargyrite crystals that have been completely replaced by a dense network of intergrown miargyrite crystals with a few scattered pyargyrite crystals in association!!! The miargyrite pseudomorphs actually have significant hollow cavities within them that, upon close inspection, are lined with sharp, lustrous crystals of miargyrite!!! One of the pseudomorphs hosts a significant area of highly ordered miargyrite crystals that form a sharply defined, lustrous crystal face that is quite impressive upon close inspection with a loupe or scope!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
