Miargyrite on Quartz

Kelly Mine, Randsburg, Rand District, Kern Co., California

5.45cm x 4.4cm x 1.4cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

An absolutely extraordinary example of this rare silver-bearing species from California!!! Although proustite and pyrargyrite are the two mineral species that most collectors think of when they hear the term "Ruby Silvers" there is a third - and much rarer - ruby silver, miargyrite!!! Miargyrite crystals are usually quite minute and even those are quite scarce!!! This specimen hosts an exceptional 6mm miargyrite prominently perched on a contrasting quartz crystal matrix!!! This extraordinary crystal is sharp, complete, and undamaged!!! There are several other crystals scattered about that are terrific examples of the species in themselves as well!!! This amazing specimen retains an antique dealer label as well as an old Wayne & Donna Leicht Collection label!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 20th!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
