Marcasite

Cap Blanc-Nez (Escalles), Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France

4.1" x 2.83" x 2"

10.4cm x 7.18cm x 5.06cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A wonderfully aesthetic example of marcasite from France!!! This specimen consists of a sharp, complete, and undamaged network of brilliantly metallic marcasite crystals to just over 4cm, proudly perched on chalk matrix!!! The complex network of marcasite crystals exhibit a range of metallic hues - from a slightly brassy silver to a rich buttery golden, that seems to be dependent upon the size of the individual crystals!!! The effect is quite stunning in person!!! These specimens come from the chalk cliffs of the French North Sea, where they could only be collected for short periods, during low tide, however collecting is now prohibited, as the locale is within the boundaries of a natural reserve!!! Absolutely stunning in person, the pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
