Ilmenite var. Manaccanite

100th St. & Lexington Ave., Manhattan (New York Co.), New York City, New York

11.6cm x 6.33cm x 3.2cm

Ex. Alfred J. Harstad

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of manaccanite ilmenite from New York City!!! This specimen hosts numerous manaccanite crystals in granite matrix!!! The crystals are darkly colored and somewhat massive!!! This rare old timer retains an old label with a A.J. Harstad notation!!! Harstad acquired the large mineral stock of Brooklyn dealer Frederick Braun in 1933 and this specimen likely came through Braun prior to that!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!!
