Malachite

New Market, Frederick Co., Maryland

5.84cm x 4.66cm x 3.43cm

Ex. Michigan College of Mines No. 5846
(A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum No. DM-17768)

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare, old time example of malachite from this rare Maryland locality!!! This specimen consists of a darkly colored matrix that hosts a deep green mass of fibrous malachite as well as tiny tufts of malachite scattered about in tiny cavities!!! Upon close inspection the fibrous malachite crystals are finely crystallized with deep emerald green color and surprising clarity among the individual crystals!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains its original labels and affixed catalogue numbers as well as an old, unattributed label!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 21st!!!
