Magnetite

Laurel Hill (Snake Hill; Penetentiary Quarry), Secaucus, Hudson Co., New Jersey

5.24cm x 3.4cm x 2.14cm

Ex. Ken Hogan Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A magnificent example of magnetite from this classic New Jersey locale!!! This specimen hosts a large razor-sharp octahedron of jet black magnetite on matrix in association several smaller crystals of magnetite!!! This specimen was acquired from the collection of Ken Hogan, who was a prolific Laurel Hill collector!!! The main crystal on this specimen is sharp, lustrous, and measures an impressive 3.2cm!!! This specimen hosted the largest crystal of magnetite I had seen in his collection!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
