Description/Interesting Notes: An incredible example of magnetite after hematite with rutile from Switzerland!!! This specimen consists of a sharp, single crystal of hematite with epitaxial rutile in which the hematite crystal has been completely replaced by magnetite!!! There are also a group of sharply octahedral magnetite crystals present on the surface as well!!! The entire specimen is highy magnetic throughout!!! The rutile crystals are lustrous and are oriented in a dramatic, sharply geometric fashion that makes for a dazzling display in person!!! The specimen is highly lustrous and very showy!!! This old time beauty is complete all around and in fantastic condition!!! This specimen retains a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well as affixed catalogue number as well!!!
