Magnetite

O'Neil Mine, Lake Mombasha, Town of Monroe, Orange Co., New York

9.4cm x 6.5cm x 4.6cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A rare and historic old time example of magnetite from New York!!! This specimen dates back well over a century, as the O'Neil Mine closed in 1880!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of crystalline magnetite across its broad face!!! The magnetite crystals are present as highly complex groups of sharp, octahedral crystals!!! The crystals exhibit flattened octahedral forms with complex, compound crystals and modified features!!! The crystals are sharp and highly lustrous!!! The matrix is comprised of massive magnetite and there is a small amount of dark greenish-tan material that highlights the magnetite crystals against the matrix!!! Rare old time New York material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JUNE 21st!!!
